Dimapur, Oct. 8 (EMN): Leshemi Villagers got their first Health Unit – a Sub Centre which was inaugurated by Dr. Kevichusa Medikhrü, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Nagaland Department of Health and Family Welfare on the Oct. 6.
Addressing the villagers present, Dr. Medikhrü called upon them to take ownership of the Health Centre and make it their responsibility in maintaining and also in extending their full cooperation with the Department.
Citing some villages where community participation in health sector is very strong, Dr. Medikhrü appealed them to be involved in the future progress of the sub centre by lending their full support to the staff posted in the sub-centre so that one day the centre can become a delivery point, and further be upgraded in the coming days. Also highlighting on the ongoing Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) in the state, how beneficial the vaccine is for the future generation. He challenged them to make Leshemi the village to achieve 100% coverage of MRVC and also in the Routine Immunisation.
Dr. Atoshe Sumi, State Program Officer (Immunisation), who was also present during the auspicious event too emphasized on the importance of MRVC and encouraged the villagers present to be an exemplary to the other villages by covering cent percent target.The land for construction of the Sub Centre and also a staff quarter is been donated by the villagers.
