Lenovo unveils Legion Y90 gaming phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

Dimapur, March 1 (EMN): Lenovo on Tuesday has unveiled its latest gaming-oriented android phone in China called the Legion Y90, with sales starting from March 10.

The Legion Y90 looks like a beast of a gaming phone, at least on paper, with impressive specs like the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a big 5,600 mAh battery with 68W fast charging and a 6.92″ Samsung AMOLED panel with support for high refresh rate.

Lenovo Legion Y90 specifications

As mentioned above, the Legion Y90 is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC along with 12GB/16GB/18GB of RAM and storage options starting from 256 GB to 640 GB. Lenovo says that the 640GB variant is a mix of 512 GB UFS + 128 GB SSD in RAID 0 configuration.

It has a massive 6.92″ Samsung AMOLED E4 display with 1,080 x 2,460 px resolution and support for 144 Hz and 720 Hz touch sampling rate. The display has support for HDR10+ and can reach a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.

The Legion Y90 boasts a massive 5,600 mAh battery and the company claims that users can expect around 8 hours of gaming or 13 hours of streaming video. It can charged via two USB-C ports simultaneously – one on the bottom and one on the side. The device has support for 68W fast charging and there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack. You will need a USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter if you are planning to use wired headphones on this device.

The device is meant to held horizontally like its predecessor, Lenovo Legion Duel 2. On the back, the device packs a 64 MP main camera and a 13 MP ultra wide sensor. The camera unit is housed inside a Lenovo logo with RGB backlighting.

On the sides, the device has four shoulder keys (L1, L2 and R1, R2) and two pressure sensitive zones on the display (L3 and R3).

Lenovo Legion Y90 price and availability

The price for the Legion Y90 starts at CNY 4,300 (around INR 51,700) for the 12GB/256GB base model, CNY 4,600 (around INR 55,300) for the 16GB/256 GB model and CNY 5,300 (around INR 63,700) for the 18GB/640 GB model.

The device will go on sale in China from March 10, however, the company has yet to reveal the device’s global launch.
