Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): Integrated Ayush Hospital Noklak conducted a free Ayush health-cum-awareness camp in Lengnyu village in Noklak district on November 9.
Speaking at the health camp, Dr. Amongba Lima, MO, IAH Noklak, stated that the term Ayush stands for ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homeopathy systems of medicine. He added that within those medical systems, drug therapies play an important role in curing disease and maintaining health.
“These drugs comprise of natural molecules which are better absorbed and utilised in the human body without adverse drug reactions in comparison to synthetic molecules,” Lima added.
Stating that ayush has become more relevance now, Lima said ayush medicines are used as a standalone option or in addition with bio-medicine in the long-term diseases. Those systems are based on definite medical philosophies and represent a way of healthy living with established concepts on prevention of diseases and promotion of health, stated a press release issued by Akangwapang.
Speaking on the topic ‘Homeopathy - a complete system of medicine,’ Dr. Imkongchiba, residential medical officer of IAH Noklak, explained that homeopathic medicines are aimed at improving the level of health by stimulating the self-regulatory mechanism.
“Unlike other medication, homeopathic medicines are non-toxic and harmless and do not have any adverse side effects. Patients unable to use conventional prescription drugs due to side effects can often safely use homeopathic medicinesm: Dr. Imkongchiba stated. Describing homeopathy as an effective treatment, he stated that homeopathic treatment can achieve results which would be considered impossible with conventional treatment.
He also asserted that the quality and safety standards are assured by the national medicine agencies based on European Union legislation and European pharmacopoeia requirements.
“Unlike antibiotics and other such medicines, homeopathic pills do not hamper digestion or lower the body’s resistance nor cause any damage, even if taken over a long period. There is no toxicity, no addiction, no dependency, no withdrawal,” Imkongchiba emphasised.
Metsoi, assistant matron, also spoke about common diseases and measures to prevent from them.
The medical team comprised of Dr. Imkongchiba, Dr. Amongba Lima, Metsoi, staff nurses namely Watepiu Khalo, Mushem, Laam T, and Athong TY, medicine dispensers Kekhriesalhou, and Aketo Swu and laboratory technician Swuduvelu Theyo.
Altogether, 140 patients were provided free health tests and medicines during the free ayush-cum-awareness camp.
