Legislators from Nagaland seek more projects for Kiphire

Dimapur, Aug. 24 (EMN): Legislator Yangseo Sangtam along with CL John, MLA and General Secretary of Eastern Nagaland Legislature Union (ENLU) met with Mission Director of Aspirational District, Niti Aayog, Rakesh Ranjan at his office in New Delhi to apprise him of the development project for Aspirational district Kiphire.

This was updated in a press release issued by OSD Planning and Coordination, Thomas Thailu on Tuesday.

Sangtam shared the grievances faced by the rural population of his constituency during the meeting and requested the Niti Aayog to sanction more development projects in the area, it was informed.

The legislator also shared to the official that many proposals had been “sent to the ministries but none was sanctioned”.

On this, the Niti Aayog official told the legislator that a total of INR 11 crore had been sanctioned for development of the Aspirational district, Kiphire in 2020 and 2021. He stated that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) had sanctioned INR 3 crore in February 2020 for Educational Sector; INR 5 crore in January 2021 for overall development; and INR 3 crore in February 2021for infrastructure sector.

The mission director had asked the MLA to send proposal for projects through the deputy commissioner for immediate approval; which will be approved by the CEO of Niti Aayog and subsequently sanctioned, informed the update.

Ranjan also assured the legislator that he would have a virtual meeting with his colleagues and Deputy Commissioner to look into the requirements and take up the issues.
