Legislators from eastern Nagaland requests ENPO to postpone proposed meeting
DIMAPUR — Amid the ongoing ‘public emergency’ being imposed in six districts of eastern Nagaland over the Centre’s failure to create Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT), 20 legislators from the region have requested the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) to postponed the proposed meeting on March 19.
In a letter addressing to the president of ENPO, the Eastern Nagaland Legislator’s Union (ENLU) said that they are “currently camping in Delhi to meet the central leaders with regard to our issue for which, an appointment has been sought and awaited”.
“Under the given circumstance, a convenient tentative date, time and venue shall be intimated by us for the proposed meeting,” read the letter from legislator Lima Onen Chang, Secretary of ENLU.
It may be mentioned that the ENPO had convened a meeting with the state’s lone Rajya Sabha MP, 20 elected members of eastern region and leaders of various civil society organisations on March 19 to discuss the ensuing issue.
