Legislator’s football trophy underway in Peren

Dimapur, Nov. 15 (EMN): The 12th edition of Peren District Legislator’s Football Trophy 2018 began on November 13 in Peren town. Member of Legislative Assembly CL John inaugurated the tournament in place of TR Zeliang, MLA and leader of opposition party. CL John was accompanied by MLAs namely BS Nganlang Phom and YM Yollow Konyak.
Addressing the participating teams as well as football lovers, CL John stated that the district was fortunate for having legislators in organising a running football trophy. Citing legendary Naga footballer Dr. T Ao for his contribution towards the country, the MLA said that any sportsmen should aim at becoming a hero in the discipline they understand in order to bring fame and glory to the society, state, and nation.
As a Christian state, the MLA urged to put Christ first not only in the church but in whatever they do so as to achieve their goal.
The opening remark and welcome address was delivered by Ernest Sephe, president of Peren District Referee Association (PDRA), while the invocation prayer was pronounced by Rev. Fr. Roy Thomas, parish priest of St. Paul’s Church, Peren. Wikedon, winner of Peren Voice Impact - Session 5, enthralled the crowd with a special number.
