Governor: Governor PB Acharya has expressed sadness at the untimely demise of Kiyanilie Peseyie, MLA representing 8-Western Angami Constituency who passed away on Sep. 27 in Dimapur.
In a condolence message addressed to Mrs. Vilekhono Peseyie, governor said that the contributions made by Peseyie for the welfare of the people of Nagaland as a Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 2003 till date and as a two time Speaker of NLA, one time Minister for Social Welfare Department & Parliamentary Affairs and also as State Excise Department official, will be remembered forever. In his demise, Acharya expressed that the people of Nagaland have lost a tall and prominent leader.
Governor conveyed his heartfelt condolence to the members of the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty God to grant strength and solace to bear the irreparable loss.
Rio: MP Lok Sabha Niephiu Rio has expressed shocked and grieve at the demise of MLA Kiyanilie Peseyie, who passed away at Zion Hospital, Dimapur on Wednesday morning.
In a message to Mrs. Vilekhono Peseyie and family, Rio said Peseyie was a tall leader who was renowned for his simplicity and humility, a man of integrity and strong moral character, who stood firmly by the principles.
Rio said “from an early age he joined government service and gave the best years of his life in serving the government. He was a dedicated and committed officer and took retirement with an exemplary and unblemished service career. He made positive contributions and served the State with dedication during some of the most difficult periods in our history. On retirement, he joined active politics and was a dignified statesman who had a distinguished career till his last breath. He was elected as an MLA from Western Angami AC and ably lived up to his illustrious predecessors. He served as Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for two consecutive terms and was a Minister during my three tenures as Chief Minister. He was a Speaker who set new benchmarks in conduct of the House under a spirit of decorum and discipline. He chaired the proceedings of the House with utmost decency with a deep respect for Members irrespective of political affiliation. He was always neutral, bipartisan and non-controversial in his dealings and decisions.”
Under his leadership, the MP said Nagaland Legislative Assembly broke new ground and created history by institution of the Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) cutting across political party lines. The JLF strongly facilitated the Indo-Naga peace process and Peseyie in his capacity as convenor, walked the extra mile in our collective endeavour to find a peaceful solution. He remained committed to this cause till his last day, the message added.
Rio expressed that his contributions and sacrifices for the people are significant and he has positively impacted lives in a progressive manner and his footprints will remain to be seen and will stay in the minds of the people for a long time to come.
The MP said “Keyanielie was also amongst my strongest supporters and most loyal colleagues in all my three tenures as chief minister. As speaker he provided praiseworthy leadership and as a minister he was a contributing and trusted adviser and cabinet colleague. I had the pleasure and privilege to work with him for over twelve years and I will remain forever grateful to him for his loyalty, friendship and counsel during our long years of association especially during my three tenures as Chief Minister.”
“Naga society, particularly the Angami community, has lost a true son of the soil – one of the last remnants of a generation of Naga elders whose contributions to the uplift and welfare of the Nagas can never be forgotten nor be replaced. He still had many contributions to make for our people, however we can draw satisfaction from the fact that his legacy will be remembered for generations to come,” the message added.
Rio along with his family conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty God to let his soul rest in eternal peace and grant strength and solace to all his loved ones and well wishers especially the people of Western Angami region.
SC Jamir: Governor Odisha Dr. SC Jamir is grieved by the passing away of Kiyanilie Peseyie. Jamir said Peseyie was a tall leader who remained a strong regionalist till his demise. The world is a temporary theatre for all human beings but one’s life is measured by his or her deeds during this short stay, the condolence message added.
Jamir also said “he was a committed and dedicated politician whose sole aim was to serve the people, and rendered his service for the welfare of the Naga society and his passing away is a great loss to the Naga society. The void created by his death will be difficult to fill up.”

Y Patton: Home Minister Y Patton expressed shock at the passing away of former Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Minister Kiyanilie Peseyie on Wednesday morning at the Zion Hospital, Dimapur. He was 69.
In a message Patton said “he was first elected to the 10th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency in 2003 General election from NPF Ticket. He became Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 2003. He won from the same Constituency in 2008 General election and again became Speaker for the second time. He became minister after winning for the third time in 2013 General election from the same constituency.”
The home minister also mentioned that he still remember how he as convener of the Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF) led all the legislators from Nagaland to Delhi and met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha and other key political leaders urging them to expedite the Naga peace process for an early settlement. “It was one of the biggest steps Naga legislators did towards pushing the Naga peace process for an early solution under his leadership as convener,” he added.
Patton also said as speaker, his conduct of the assembly businesses was always impartial and he keeps cordial relationship with all the members of the house.
Patton expressed that in his death the Naga people have lost a visionary and principled Naga leader and the void created by his untimely death will be difficult to fill.

Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu: The Naga People’s Front president and MLA Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu expressed shock over the sudden demise of Kiyanilie Peseyie early Wednesday morning at Dimapur.
In a message, Dr. Liezietsu said “I was aware that he was not keeping good health for some time now, but didn’t realise about the seriousness of his ailment.”
Describing Peseyie as a sincere and dedicated party man and one of the most trusted party legislators who took on responsibilities many others hesitated to take up and performed his duties and responsibilities with grace and finesse, Liezietsu said the departed leader had been the embodiment of integrity and dignity.
“A humble person by nature, he was a man of few words but he was the personification of honesty, truthfulness and loyalty. Approachable by young and old alike, he was dearly loved by all who had the opportunity of knowing him. His popularity with his constituents is clearly shown by the ease with which he got himself elected three consecutive times ever since he retired from government service and joined electoral politics by public demand in 2003,” the message stated.
In his passing away, Liezietsu said he have lost a very close political confidante and a dear friend and Nagas in general have lost a towering leader whose absence would be sorely felt by all cutting across political affiliations.
He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members on behalf of his family and the rank and file of the NPF, and prayed that the Almighty grant them solace and comfort in their time of grief.
CL John: MLA CL John is shocked over the sudden demise MLA , former speaker and ex-minister, Kiyanielie Peseyie, on Sep. 27 at Zion Hospital Dimapur.
In a condolence message john said “Late Kiyanielie Peseyie, have represented Western Angami Assembly Constituency and had served on various capacity as Speaker and Minister with a variety of portfolios under Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Prior to his entering into active politics, he had served in the state government, church activities, etc under different capacities. During his short span of life, committed Christian believer and he had proved a man of principle and undoubtedly one of the sincere, hardworking and bonafide citizen as well as one of a competent government servant and officer, dedicated and able political and public leader in his own capacity with integrity and vast wisdom.”
John lamented that it would be very difficult to fill the vacuum caused by his premature death and his service to the Angami community in particular and to Nagas in general.

G Kaito Aye: Minister of National highways and Political Affairs G Kaito Aye expressed sadness at the untimely demise of MLA Kiyanilie Peseyie, on Sep. 27 at Zion Hospital, Dimapur.
In a message, Aye said “he was a humble and God-fearing leader who always strived for the betterment of the society. He was one among the senior members in the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly and a very experienced and a great leader. In his two term stint as Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, he upheld the sanctity of the office of the Speaker and maintained the decorum of the house to its best.”
In his untimely demise, John said people of the 8th Western Angami in particular and the Nagas have lost a very capable and distinguished leader.

Wangyuh Konyak: Former MP Lok Sabha W Wangyuh Konyak expressed shock at the demise of MLA Keyanelie Peseyie, on Sep. 27 at Dimapur.

CPO: Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) is shocked at the sudden demise of Kiyaneilie Peseyie. The CPO said “he was a strong pillar, not only for the Angamis but of the whole Nagas. He as a leader have lived and done his part for humanity. His contributions to our society in different fields will be ever cherished.”
The CPO mourned the death of the departed leader and prayed that, may God Almighty give solace and peace to the bereaved family at this time of hardship and the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

KDCC: The Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) is shocked to at the sudden demise of MLA Kiyaneilie Peseyie, on Sep.
KDCC said “Peseyie was a man of words and a tall leader in politic who won three times consecutively from the constituency and served as speaker and cabinet minister.”
The committee expressed that his death has caused irreparable loss to the Angami community and to the Kohima district in particular and also the Nagas in general, who was looked upon as an elderly seasoned leader.

State BJP: The State BJP has condoled the untimely demise of former Speaker and Minister Social Welfare & Parliamentary Affairs and MLA Kiyanilie Peseyie, on Sep, 27 at Dimapur.
“His long innings in the state politics have left a mark in the development of parliamentary politics in the state and helped usher in a long era of DAN government. Serving the state in different capacities of the government, Shri Kiyanelie had been a strong pillar of democratic values and practices” the condolence message stated.
