The advisor was addressing the inaugural programme of a sub -treasury office at Aghunato. Updates from the APRO at Aghunato on Wednesday informed about the programme. Give up the spirit of ‘impulsiveness, lies, hatred and criticism in order to be blessed,’ the advisor was quoted as having stated. Saying that the Aghunato treasury having been shifted to Zunheboto was not a mistake of the government but a ‘fault of the local people,’ Sumi explained that ‘because of their fault the people of the sub-division had suffered for 26 long years.’ Today, he said, is a great privilege and the opportunity that has come to ‘comfort’ them. The advisor advised the community to respect the office and honour its officers and staff. Calling attention to developmental activities that are to be pursued, the advisor said that the sub division police post in the Police department and the sub division officer post in the Electrical department was ‘in the outlook of up-grade.’ The extra assistant commissioner (EAC) of Aghunato, Seratho Katiry, also spoke during the event. He said that setting up a sub-treasury office at Aghunato would bring benefit to more than 500 pensioners, govt. servants, and more than 17 govt. offices in the sub-division. It will have a positive cascading affect on the socio economic lives of the people of Aghunato, he said. The chairman of the Adhoc Town Council, Hoito I Achumi, also addressed the event. He expressed appreciation that the Aghunato Sub-Treasury office was ‘brought back.’ In appealing on behalf of the public the chairman sought posting an EAC at Hoshepu at the earliest. An officer of the Treasury at Aghunato, Samuel, no second name, said during the event that the sub-treasury office was functioning as a non-banking treasury; all cash business was transacted by the State Bank of India at Zunheboto. The office was then shifted to Zunheboto “following the unfortunate incident happened in the year March 2 1992.” The APRO’s updates did not mention what the incident was. The officer said it was fortunate for the people of Aghunato to have the office back to them. The GB of Ghuvishe village, Kashito Yepthomi, also addressed the event. He spoke about the need to install more ATM booths in Aghunato town for transaction convenient. Lauding the advisor for reinstating the office, he said it was a Red Letter day for Aghunato.
