Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): The department of Science and Technology hosted a meeting with its advisor, Mmhonlumo Kikon, in the department’s conference hall on April 17 in Kohima.
Addressing the officers and staff, Mmhonlumo Kikon said that the department of science and technology plays a key role in formulating many of the policies in the state. While appreciating the work carried by the bio-technology hub, he stated that the use of traditional knowledge could be harnessed with better research. In addition, he encouraged the department to propose projects that could challenge bigger private players in the market.
Also mentioning on the recently concluded Nagaland Innovative Expo at Kohima Science College, he recommended that such programmes should be conducted on a regular basis for the academia and the public so that they could find a platform to display their innovative ideas. He also suggested proposal for award in future under the Chief Minister Corpus Fund.
Being a member of Global Citizen Climate Pledge, he emphasised on the importance of tackling climate change and suggested the Nagaland State Climate Change team to carry out discussions both at national level, international level and in forums such as Conference of Parties (COPs) conducted by UNFCC.
Several issues concerning the department was discussed during the programme.
