Legal fraternity observes Human Rights Day

Dimapur, Dec. 13 (EMN): District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) across different parts of the state observed the International Human Rights Day on December 10.

An update from the Nagaland state legal services authority (NSLSA) stated that an awareness programme was organised at Wokha town where a panel lawyer Gracy Ezung spoke on 'Significance of Human Rights Day.' She also spoke on various social welfare schemes and rights of women.

The update also stated that legal pamphlets were distributed to the participants during the programme.

In Kohima, the Kohima DLSA in collaboration with All India Radio (AIR), Kohima organised a talk show wherein panel lawyers Nagali Shohe and Tongpangnungshi spoke on basic human rights. They also deliberated on topics related to human rights basing on 2020 human rights day theme "Recover better - stand up for human rights".

In Mokochung, the day was observed by organising a legal awareness programme with women ministry of Artang Ward in Mokokchung town. Retainer lawyer Limanungsang Jamir delivered the keynote address and explained the services rendered by the legal services authority.

Purkumzuk, a resource person from the social welfare department, explained all the welfare schemes under the department, while the Mokokchung DLSA project assistant Mapujungla Pongen spoke on the National Food Security Act and fundamental duties.
