Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): Phek District Legal Service Authority (PDLSA) organised an awareness programme on “ADR/ Lok Adalat” with the representatives of banks from State Bank of India and Cooperative Bank, Chakhesang Mothers Association (CMA), Phek Area Mother’ Association (PAMA), Chamber of Commerce, and youth society on April 25 at Phek council hall.
PDLSA panel lawyer, Rukuvolu Vero, spoke on legal services authority act, which was enacted for providing equal justice to all, providing free legal aid to the poor, and for creating legal awareness.
Vethothi Vero, panel lawyer, spoke on ADR/Lok Adalat. He stated that disputes or pending and pre-litigation cases like bank recovery case could be referred to Lok Adalat for settlement through conciliation or compromise which is free of cost.
Retainer lawyer, Mamang Singson, who spoke on bank recovery, stated that such cases could be settled by waiver of some amount of money through Lok Adalat.
Subsequently on April 26, PDLSA also conducted another legal awareness on “Equal justice and free legal aid” in Thenyizumi village.
PDLSA chairman, Longshi Ezung, spoke on victim compensation act and motor vehicle act. He further highlighted on Nagaland Village Council Act and to ensure proper discharge on the duties and responsibilities as per the provision of village council act.
PDLSA panel lawyer, Sekhotso Rokha, spoke on human trafficking and briefly spoke on rights, features and objectives on consumer protection act. Kenei Swuro spoke on RTI, protection of women from domestic violence and function and activities of legal services authority. He further encouraged the participants to avail the free legal services.
Altogether, 50 persons attended the seminar.
