Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): In view of the lockdown and the prevailing situation, District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) provided assistance and relief to different individuals in the past few days.
An update from NSLSA stated that the Kohima DLSA, in compliance to the directives of its executive chairman to reach out to persons from Manipur state stranded in various districts in Nagaland, identified 16 persons in Kohima district. It stated the details and assistance needed by three persons were identified and the same was apprised to the deputy commissioner.
Besides, Kohima DLSA also identified two persons stranded in Zunheboto who were in need of financial assistance/ essential commodities. Subsequently, the matter was endorsed to Zunheboto DLSA for necessary course of action, it stated.
Kohima DLSA had also assisted a family from Wokha district in acquiring an extra ordinary car pass and other essential commodities after they were stranded at Khuzama Government Hospital in Kohima district due to the lockdown.
In Dimapur, out of the total 88 individuals 21 were found to be in need of assistance. It stated that after preparing a list containing names, contact number, address and required assistance, the Dimapur DLSA secretary Somet C Chang along with the project assistant and retainer lawyer approached the deputy commissioner for assistance.
Wokha DLSA identified and delivered relief materials to genuine needy beneficiaries on April 24. The materials were donated by secretary of Wokha DLSA and JMFC Khrievono Seletsu along with panel lawyers and para legal volunteers. It also contributed cash and served refreshment to duty personnel, medical team, volunteers on April 13. The release also stated that DLSA had assisted the district administration in preparing panel sections for public awareness through print and social media.
In another instance, Keduolhoukho Chadi, a para-legal volunteer under Chiephobozou sub-division legal services clinic, in collaboration with common service centre (CSC), Chiephobozou town, assisted the residents through banking services (card-less cash withdrawal of INR 500 up to INR 5,000 per person/per day by using Aadhaar enabled payment system) for any bank account.
The service was stated to be important since most of the aged persons/ residents do not possess ATM card and also taking into considering that many students studying or staying outside the village are suffering due to shortage of money.
Besides, Phek DLSA had also assisted the district administration in disinfection and sanitation drives on vehicle plying from the other districts at Chetheba town.
Further, Phek DLSA officials along with the deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, public prosecutor visited the Covid-19 Hospital.
