Dimapur, Sep. 30 (EMN): The controversy surrounding the leadership of the NSCN (K) continues with a statement on Sunday from one of the contenting sides stating that “lt. gen.” Khango was impeached on August 17 and that “some self-vested individuals and Indian-backed agents within the party as expected has sided with the impeached chairman.” A press release appended by “maj.” Joseph Lamkang of the “MIP” was received here on Sunday. The statement read: ‘In the light of the recent crisis within the Party, the NSCN/GPRN would like to lay few points that needed immediate clarification to the Naga people. That, the former chairman lt. gen. retd.Khango was impeached on 17th August, 2018 according to the party formalities and was consented and endorsed by all the members of the NSCN/GPRN.’ “Taking full advantage of the situation, some self-vested individuals and Indian-backed agents within the party as expected has sided with the impeached chairman with an intention to utilize the impeached chairman as tool to fulfil their selfish dreams and implement the work of the enemy (India).’ Hence, the press release stated, “they are automatically terminated from the party with immediate effect. The simple truth is that, these traitors has no agenda, hence the press release by the so-called MIP of NSCN/GPRN on 29/09/2018 claiming the legitimacy of the impeached chairman is completely baseless, null and void.” It asserted that the NSCN/GPRN, under the new leadership and all the parties of Wesea based at base-area, are ‘fully intact.’ “Today, the NSCN/GPRN re-pledge ourselves before God and to the people to continue the Naga freedom struggle, and will not tolerate anti-National elements conniving with the enemy to demean the struggle,’ it stated.
