Leaders, organisations mourn Rokonicha’s demise

Dimapur, April 17 (EMN): Various political leaders and public organisations have mourned the demise of former MLA Rokonicha Kuotso, who passed away on April 17 after prolong illness at his residence in Medziphema. NLA Speaker: Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Vikho-o Yhoshü, while mourning the untimely demise of former MLA Rokonicha, stated that the later had served in various capacities as president of Chakhroma Students’ Conference (1967-69), joint secretary of Angami Public Organisation (1973) and assistant teacher of Government High School, Kohima (1972-73). He described Rokonicha as a humble and dynamic leader who worked diligently for the welfare and uplift of his constituency and for the people of Nagaland. On behalf of the members of the Thirteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly, NLA Speaker has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed that God would grant them solace and comfort in their hour of grief. He further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. Chingwang Konyak: President of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Chingwang Konyak, has mourned the demise of veteran Naga politician Rokonicha Kuotsu. He described Rokonicha as the tallest leader of the Chakhro Angami area, who was loved and respected by all communities of the area. He went on to add that Rokonicha’s soft spoken, genial and approachable attitude made him a popular personality both in politics and society. He lamented that in his passing away, the Nagas in general and the Tenyimia group of Nagas in particular have lost a towering leader. On behalf of the NDPP rank and file, he conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members prayed that the Almighty would grant them comfort and solace at their hour of grief. He further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II: NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC has mourned the demise of Rokonicha Kuotsu, a six times MLA of the constituency. The unit president, Dosau Kuotsu, and the general secretary, Tokihe Zhimomi, stated that Rokonicha was one of the senior most public leaders who walked the talk in all his endeavours. It added that his unmatched dedication and zeal to work for the welfare of the people defined his social leadership capability. It lamented that his demise has left a void and prayed that God would grant solace to the bereaved family to continue with his legacy. MTYO, MTMK: Medziphema Town Youth Organisation (MTYO) and Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho (MTMK) have mourned the demise of Rokonicha Kuotsu. The two organisations, in a press release issued by MTYO president, Asazo Talie, and the MTMK president, Akhoto Kuotsu, described him as one senior most public leader who exemplified true Christian belief throughout his life and tirelessly worked for the uplift of the people of Medziphema region. The organisations conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that God would grant them comfort in their hour of grief. Ex-PAN: Ex-Parliamentarians’ Association of Nagaland (EX-PAN), while mourning the demise of former minister Rokonicha, described him as a humble, dedicated and grass-roots political leader and a man of principle who gave his entire life in the service of his people. Stating that his political career was the best example of a true Naga leader, the association lamented that Nagas have lost a great leader and statesman in his passing away. The association, in a condolence message issued by its president Sulangthung H Lotha and the general secretary S Supongmeren Jamir, sympathised with the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
