Dimapur, May 24 (EMN): LaunchPad, a Career Guidance and Employment Skills Development Programme, was launched for the academic year of 2022-23 in two districts on May 23 at Dimapur and Niuland with 73 students from Government Higher Secondary School, Purana Bazaar and 32 students from Government Higher Secondary School, Niuland.
At the opening event held at Government Higher Secondary School Purana Bazaar, Akumla Chuba, Director of Youth Resources and Sports highlighted the importance of LaunchPad in tackling the high unemployment rate in the state. Tsepila Zhimomi, manager-training and talent management, YouthNet, chaired the event while Pipi Gloria Chishi, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Purana Bazaar addressed the congregation with the welcoming speech.
The programme at Niuland was attended by Khriekethoii Kense, the YRO of Department of Youth Resources and Sports. She mentioned the impact LaunchPad had the previous year with a total number of 3394 registrations, and 2646 students successfully starting the course. Pursungit Pongen, the project coordinator of LaunchPad, chaired the programme, while a welcome address was given by Isiteulie, Principal of Niuland Government Higher Secondary School. She mentioned the importance and the need for similar projects for Class 9 and 10 students as well.
LaunchPad is an initiative of the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS), Government of Nagaland, in partnership with YouthNet, supported by the Department of School Education, offering career guidance explicitly to students in class 12, impacting all 44 Govt. Higher Secondary Schools across Nagaland.
