Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): Peren and Mon registered win their respective matches in the ongoing 1st Late G. Rio Memorial U-19 (Boys) Inter-District Tournament, played on Friday.
In the first match of the day between Peren and Wokha, Peren elected to bat first after winning the toss and went on to score 145 runs for loss of seven wickets in 25 overs, informed Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) in an update.
The main contributors for Peren were Lalkishan (wk) - 31 runs, Parbez (C) - 24 runs, Roko Nyekha - 22 runs, Ranjen - 21 runs and Poiring – 17 runs (not out), while Wokha’s bowling attack was led by Randanbemo Odyuo (two wickets), Thungchio Humtsoe (two wickets), Renben Kithan (one wicket) and Lichumthung Patton (one wicket).
Chasing a stiff target, Wokha were bowled out for a paltry 64 runs in 17.3 overs, thus conceding defeat by 82 runs. Randanbemo Odyuo scored 14 runs (not out) and Mhao Tsanglao (wk) 10 runs for the team.
Vicky took three wickets, Parbez, 2, and one each from Poiring, Haichuanei Newme, Roko Nyekha and Ranjen to help Peren win the match comfortably.
In the second match of the day, between Mon and Zunheboto, the former won the toss and elected to bat first.
Mon put up 111 runs on the board (all out) in 22.5 overs. Apunkz Punknyei scored 24 runs, Altab, 21, and Rakesh, 18, for the team, while Zunheboto’s Alopu Aye took four wickets, Abhi, 2, and one wicket apiece from Hito K Assumi and Nighato H Yeptho.
In the run chase, Zunheboto were bowled out for jus 61 runsin 14.2 overs, thus conceding defeat to Mon by 50 runs. Alopu Aye was the leading scorer for the team with 19 runs, while Mon’s bowling attack was led by Shejong Konyak (3 wickets), Shejong Konyak (3 wickets), Airong Konyak (2 wickets), Altab (2 wickets), and Apunkz Punknyei (1 wicket).
