DIMAPUR — Dimapur and Niuland are through to the final of the 4th Late G Rio Memorial Men’s U-19 Inter-District Tournament 2024, after winning their respective semi-final matches on Friday.

In the semi-final match played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Zunheboto set a target of 106 runs for Dimapur after electing to bat first, according to an update by the Nagaland Cricket Association.

Zunheboto started the match on a promising note but their middle orders failed to perform with their bats. Raja 18 runs, Bekuto 17 runs and Aarush 16 runs were the main contributors for Zunheboto.

Sundram’s destructive bowling spell of 5 wickets, his second 5-wicket haul of the tournament for Dimapur, restricted the score of the opponents.

Dimapur chased down the target in just 12.2 overs for loss of 4 wickets and won the match by 6 wickets.

In the other semi-final match played at Sovima Cricket Ground, Mokokchung set a decent target of 158 runs for Niuland in the allotted 50 overs for loss of 8 wickets. Tailenders Moatemsu scored 51 runs in 66 balls (not out) and Imnawapang scored 15 runs in 102 balls (not out) for Mokokchung, while other contributors included Imnatoshi (17 runs), Salangdangba (15 runs) and Zany Lemtur (10 runs).

Niuland’s bowling attack was led by Jatin with 3 wickets, while Sonu took 2 wickets and a wicket apiece by Kumar and Darsh.

In the run chase, Niuland were off to a shaky start with wickets falling in quick succession, struggling at 72 runs loss of 8 wickets at one point of time. However, the tailenders — Kundan scored 81 runs and Sonu 23 (not out) — once again rose to the occasion and helped the team beat Mokokchung by 1 wicket.

The young in-form left arm chinaman spinner Amongti once again displayed a brilliant bowling spell for Mokokchung, taking 4 wickets in his allotted 10 overs and giving away only 16 runs. Imnawapang also picked up 2 wickets, while Salangdangba, Moatemsu and Zany Lemtur took a wicket apiece, but fell short of securing a victory for the team.
