Late CM Chang’s wife passes away; Nagaland chief minister mourns her demise

Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): Just two weeks after former Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Justice & Law, CM Chang passed away, his wife Alemla Chang breathed her last on Monday night at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) in Dimapur.

According to sources, she was admitted at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) to treat jaundice and was tested positive for Covid-19 last week. It also informed she was tested negative for the coronavirus in the retest but her health deteriorated because of other ailments like kidney and liver problems. She was shifted CIHSR.

“She could not go for the funeral of her late husband also and that affected her health immensely,” said the source, adding that she belonged to Yimrup village in Noksen, Tuensang district.

Chief Minister condoles

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed pain at the demise of Alemla Chang, wife of late CM Chang.

“Mrs. Alemla Chang was a cheerful, friendly person who stood by former colleague and friend late CM Chang through thick and thin. She was a person with a big heart and pleasant personality and will always be remembered for her warm-heartedness. She was the pillar of strength for my former colleague and close friend,” the condolence message read.

“It is indeed heart wrenching for the family to lose two important loved ones in such a short span of time. I cannot fathom the feeling the family must be going through right now. However, she will continue to live in our memories, which will comfort us all when we think of her,” he added.

“In this hour of grief, my wife joins me in conveying our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and it is our sincere prayer that God will give them strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” he continued.
