Late Capt. N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament begins today

KOHIMA — The Late Capt. N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament 2023, organised by 5 Sector Assam Rifles under the auspices of Hq. IGAR(N) , is scheduled to begin at 3:15 pm on Wednesday at Kohima’s IG Stadium.

The opening ceremony will be followed by the inaugural match between Tiema-Khe Kidima FC (Kohima) and Lozu FC (Zunheboto).

The teams have been divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D.

Group A consists of Tiema Khe Kidima FC (Kohima), Lozu FC (Zunheboto), Peren District FC (Peren), and Headhunters FC (164 INF BN, Jakhama).

Group B includes Tehok FC (Mon), Chang Sports Assoc. (Tuensang), A Yhome (Kohima), and Holy Angels Sports Team (Noklak).

The teams in Group C are Viswemi FC (Kohima), Western Sumi Sports Assoc. (Niuland), Medziphema Royal FC (Chümoukedima), and New Agers FC (Kiphire).

Finally, Group D comprises Peace United FC (Phek), St. Xavier’s College (Jalukie), Vanguard FC (Tseminyu), and Beckon FC (Phek).

During this state-level tournament, 16 matches will be played, culminating in the grand finale on November 9. Major Gen. Vikas Lakhera, IGAR(N) , will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.
