Lata Mangeshkar finally breaks her silence on the Tanmay Bhat controversy
A lot has been said, discussed and debated on the latest controversy of AIB’s stand up comedian Tanmay Bhat’s Snapchat video that went viral in no time. The few seconds clip saw popular Indian icons Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar pitted against each other in a verbal spat essayed by Tanmay himself. What followed was a series of aggressive reaction on social media creating a huge controversy on this issue.
While Lata’s sister Asha Bhonsle came out in support of her in just 24 hours after the incident took place, the 86-year-old veteran musician remained mum until now. The singer broke her silence and talked about what she feels on this unfortunate incident. Popular to the contrary notion, Lata is not as angry as everyone else out there.
Lata ji said that nothing affects her as she’s been through so much, and has faced so many hurdles in life. “At an age when other girls play with dolls, I was out of the house trying to find work as a singer. I learnt from a young age that work is the only thing that matters. Log bahot pareshan ho gaye. Mujhe yeh bura laga. I don’t like the idea of people getting hassled because of me. I want to assure all my well-wishers that these (spoofs, etc) are very small matters. There are far greater issues in life. We must not give undue importance to those who thrive on maligning people. I am sure they have their reasons for doing what they do,” she shared.
