Kohima, Feb. 20 (EMN): Describing various languages as a ‘beautiful creation of God,’ minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu, has encouraged promoting one’s mother tongue saying, none can stop someone from speaking one’s own mother tongue.

Kronu stated this at the inauguration of Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board (CCLB) office at Keyake in Kohima on February 18. Pointing out the existence of varied languages among the Chakhesang tribe, Kronu urged upon the community to promote one’s own language.

Stating that laziness, insincerity, dishonesty are not part of Chakhesang’s culture, he urged the literature board members to propagate the forefather virtues of honesty, hard work, and sincerity among the younger generations. While acknowledging that English has become widely spoken around the world, Kronu has stressed on the need to develop and improvise one’s own language.

He further suggested holding seminars to educate and promote culture and for the development of the economy. He also stressed on the need for unity among the people.

On the occasion, the minister also released the two Chokri books published by the Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board namely Chokrimi Malhü (fiction story)  and Lizo Küveko-57 (poetry) written by Vedukho Shijo.

Earlier, short speeches were delivered by Avelü Rüho, joint secretary of School Education department; Dr. Zavise Rume, professor at SCERT, Kohima; and Zhovehü Lohe, convener of CCLB advisor committee.

The programme was chaired by Ariyi Nienu, chairman of CCLB, while a folk song was presented by Vesavolü Rhakho and friends and prayers were offered by Rev. Dr. Thüpu-o Nyekha, convenor of CCGLB, and Dr. Vetso Koza, pastor of CBCK.
