Langpangkong Students’ Conference resolves to focus on smart farming, clean election and tourism during its conference held at Mongsenyimti.

DIMAPUR — The Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) resolved to make smart farming a major focus to encourage and attract students and youth in the food production sector with an aim to attain economic independence so as to enable the new generation to bring positive changes in society.
This resolution was unanimously adopted, among others, in its general conference held at Mongsenyimti village in Mokokchung district on January 8 and 9 on the theme “Rekindling legacy”, stated a press release.
The resolution sought the guidance and support from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and the Agri and Allied departments of the government of Nagaland in order to guide the youth and students to become smart farmers and agripreneurs.

The LKM also resolved to identify important historical places with tales and events that might have happened during the time of the ancestors as well as modern times and maintain them in every village in Langpangkong in order to make the entire range a tourist circuit.
The students’ body also decided to continue to observe World Environment Day on the first week of June every year by cleaning ancestral wells and rivers in every village of Langpangkong.
The students’ conference also resolved to develop and manage a ‘Study Space’ in every village and town under its jurisdiction for students and aspirants for jobs in different fields. This initiative is expected to be implemented collectively with respective churches and local authorities.
The students also decided to organise a Pre-Teachers’ Day programme with all the teachers under Langpangkong to honour them and share the idea of education on the first week of September every year.
The LKM reiterated its commitment to carry on its Clean Election campaign in the Langpangkong range to bring about an electoral reformation in every heart and home by putting the political principle of 'My Vote, My Right' into action by discouraging muscle and money power and encouraging fair and free participation of every citizen in the electoral exercise.
On the last day of the two-day conference, a symposium was held on the topics 'Economic independence' and 'Leveraging technology and AI for a smarter future' with K Temjen Jamir, editor and publisher of Tir Yimyim, and Lanuwabang, director, NIELIT, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, as resource persons.
A Pangjung Jamir, advisor, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Government of Nagaland, was a special invitee who exhorted the students to become productive citizens. The president of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), Lanutoshi Aier; the Japukong Students’ Conference (JKM) president, A Mangyang; and the Tzürangkong Students’ Conference (TKM) president, Pangertoba, brought greetings and appreciation to the LKM.
T Sentiyala Ozüküm and Langpangkong Watsü Telungjem presented special numbers during the conference. The symposium session was presided over by Washimong Sadem Longkumer and moderated by Imnatula Jamir.
In the last session, Ao Senden president, Marsanen, and Langpangkong Tzükong Mungdang (LTM) president, N Watitoshi, exhorted the gathering.
The conference nominated its new team of office bearers with Tzüwasanen Jamir as president, Merenkümzük as vice president, Walunir as general secretary, Shiluyatet as assistant general secretary, Sujimong as games and sports secretary, Imnasüngküm as assistant games and sports secretary, Talisunep as cultural secretary and Agumtoshi as finance secretary.
