Langpangkong student body laments poor workmanship of National Highway-02

DIMAPUR — The Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) has expressed concern over the poor workmanship of the ongoing National Highway-02 (NH-02) two-lane road project under the Langpangkong range.

In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, dated July 26, the student body had requested the district administration to address the issue before July 30, failing which it said would take its own course of action.

“The Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) office is deeply concerned about the ongoing road construction on National Highway-02, specifically between 185.00 km to 220.00 km, being undertaken by the KKB Rhülo Construction Company. Despite continuous monitoring and encouragement from LKM, there has been a lack of progress in the construction work,” read the letter.

“The current state of the road has made it extremely challenging for the travellers and local community to commute safely. The poorly ongoing road construction has led to frequent breakdowns, accidents, and poses significant threats to the public,” it added.

The student body also said that the ‘people of Langpangkong have never demanded land compensation during the construction of the National Highway and that it’s a taxation free zone’.

Moreover, the committees constituted for road projects in the area have been supportive of companies operating in the range, it said, while lamenting poor workmanship despite numerous requests to the KKB Rhülo Construction Company to adhere to the detailed project report (DPR) of the project.
