Landowners of Borjan area reiterate land encroachment issue

Dimapur, Sep. 17 (EMN): Concerning the illegal encroachment of their lands, the aggrieved landowners of Borjan Choto Lengri area Karbi Anglong have stated that the authorities, whom the union had appraised the responsible to look into the issue has still not acted upon their request. 

An update informed that the people illegally encroaching the lands have not stopped their activities. Moreover, they have now constructed structures in their lands. In spite of repeated appeal to the administration as well as the defaulting parties through various mediums, it stated that the union is yet to see any retraction of the activities.

It said that the union held a meeting on Sep. 14 at the treasurer’s residence, wherein it was resolved that it would allow the defaulters to retrieve their properties and belongings within 10 days, failing which the landowners would take its own course of action and stated that any loss of properties owing to this dispute shall not be blamed on the landowners.

‘For a cordial relationship to exist between various communities in the neighbouring Borjan areas of Karbi Anglong, we earnestly request all the communities to respect each other’s rights and properties in future. With humble intentions to defend our rights and our lands, we remind the defaulters and the administration that in the event of any unwanted situation arising out of the current mess, we would not be responsible of the same’, the union added.
