Renben Jami, Joint Director, and the Supervisory Officer, Kohima District, Department of Land Resources. The marketing shed was constructed under IWMP Project VII to cater to the needs of the villagers especially the Self-Help Groups in selling their products and give them a platform to earn and be self-reliant. The programme was chaired by Thepfuleo Huozha, Secretary, Meriema Village Council. Invocation prayer was offered by Keduolhoulie, Pastor, Baptist Church, Meriema. T. Renben Jami in his speech challenged the SHG members to make full use of the Marketing shed which has been constructed for their benefit. He also stressed upon them to have a daily market without which the purpose of the marketing shed would be meaningless. He also advised the SHG members on the importance of Package of the goods which are put for sale. He encouraged them to use plantain leaves and not polythene bags for packing the vegetables. Neat packing not only makes the goods attractive, it also shows that the vegetables have been cleaned and have been neatly packed for sale. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Dzieselhoulie, Chairman, Watershed Committee, Meriema Village. He also informed the gathering that every household in the village is maintaining a kitchen garden. With the surplus of vegetables and apart from the daily market, wholesale of the vegetables will also be carried out in the marketing shed.
