Tening to get office for forest range
Dimapur, Dec. 13 (EMN): The land of he naga people are fertile but the people aren’t hard working enough to harvest the furit of labour from what they have been given, Minister CM Chang has lamented. The minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, CM Chang was addressing a programme dedicating the foundation of a forest range office for Tening, in Peren district on Wed., Dec. 13. Updates from the DIPR on Thursday informed about the event.
Addressing the occasion, the DIPR stated, CM Chang said that in the year 1982-83 when he was a civil officer posted in Tening there was ‘hardly any development.’ He lamented ‘the vanishing of birds and wild animal,’ the DIPR reported.
“The land is fertile but people are not hard working, he said. Chang appealed to all to cooperate with the government for more development in their area. The range forest of Tening was launched with Japanese aid. Germany and Korea projects are also in the pipeline,” the DIPR quoted the minister as having said.
Also, the advisor for Water Resource Development, Namri Nchang said that ‘development would come but people have to utilize it for their benefit.’ He was also said to have cautioned against ‘pollutions of the air and soil and called upon all to conserve nature.’
The legislator also appealed to leaders of the church to take initiative to conserve forest. Schemes for various development projects will come in the near future, he said. He added that a ‘SDEO office’ would be inaugurated ‘very shortly,’ he added.
The divisional forest officer of Peren district, Dr. Sentitula, said that the programme was a red letter day for Tening. She has appealed to the people to work together to conserve wildlife too.
