Lancer CC, Phyolumo 11 progress at 28th Winter Cricket Challenge
DIMAPUR — In the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge in Wokha, Lancer CC secured a victory in their first match against WDCA.
The cricket event is organised by Senior Noble Klan under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket Association with Wokha Forest Division.
In a rather low-scoring match, WDCA, after winning the toss, chose to bat first, setting a target of 60 runs while losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Chuponthung, the opening batsman, was the only player to reach double figures, scoring 13 runs.
Lancer CC successfully chased the target, winning the match by 9 wickets in 5.1 overs. Opening batsmen Hayithung Ngullie and Temjen Toshi scored 22 and 26, respectively while Thungchamo Jami earned the title of Man of the Match for his economical bowling, claiming a wicket in 4 overs while conceding just 7 runs.
In the second match, Phyolumo 11 won the toss, choosing to bat first and setting a target of 176 runs, losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. The top contributors were Anil Sharma and Dipen Saharia, with 46 and 47, respectively.
In pursuit of the target, Kohima Hornbills fell short, losing the match by 60 runs in 18.3 overs. Only three batsmen reached double figures, with Hikato scoring 27, Anga 20, and Sede 12.
Dipen Saharia was named the Man of the Match for his impressive performance, contributing 47 runs and taking 2 wickets while bowling.
