DIMAPUR — A two-day 75th anniversary celebration of Lakhuti Students’ Union in Wokha district was held on December 29 and 29 at the village public ground on the theme “Together into the future.”

The special guest of the inaugural programme, Khonchamo Ngullie, extended greetings to the gatherings. Ngullie, who was also the former president of LKSU, recalled the bygone days and termed the present scenario as a golden phase to bring about positive changes in the society.

He also emphasised cleanliness as a vital aspect of life for healthy lifestyle and sustenance. He further encouraged the students to upscale their skills and talents and be self-reliant.

Ngullie also launched the jubilee souvenir.

Orenthung Ngullie, LKSU vice president, welcomed all the delegates from neighboring villages, while Wonchibemo ovung, president of Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU), in his keynote address, urged to keep up the reputation of Lakhuti village.

In his exhortation, Orenthung Yanthan, Head GB of Lakhuti village, stated that education is one of the blessings of life and knowledge is the biggest gift.

The theme speaker, Jonas Yanthan, senior news reader at Akaswani Kohima, reminded the gathering that laziness is greatest enemy. He added that everyone is responsible for themselves and the society.

“Knowledge is power, knowledge is light. The ability to carry forward the society is called knowledge. Lothas are not hardworking, less determined, patience-less. The fruit of hard work is joy, happiness and satisfaction. We need to cultivate broad mindset so that we don’t incur huge loss that can’t be replenished,” Yanthan said.

Eyilobeni Kikon enthralled the gathering with a song.
