KYO inaugurates ‘Badze’ to commemorate 50th anniversary

KOHIMA — The Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) on Saturday inaugurated the ‘Badze’ (stones erected on the wayside for seating/ resting purpose) in commemoration of its 50th anniversary scheduled from December 17 to the 21st next.

The historic event was attended by all 13 living past presidents out of the total 19 who have led the organisation over the past five decades, stated a KYO press release.

The ceremony began at Meraselieju with hoisting of KYO flag by all eight peer groups, while the torch flame ignited by the current president was passed on to all the living presidents hand-to-hand till the senior most living president lighted the Badze cauldron as a symbol of transmitting unity and friendship for its golden jubilee celebration.

The event was blessed by all pastors and catechists of Kiruphema village, invoking a sense of spirituality and tradition that underscored the importance of the occasion.

Adding to the significance of the day, the KYO also officially inaugurated its customary court and office.

The special guest, Neiyiezietuo Hesielie, highlighted the importance of the new facilities in Kiruphema village under Peducha region.

Report stated that the inauguration of KYO Badze and the new facilities symbolises the commitment to fostering community spirit, preserving cultural heritage and ensuring the effective administration of the youth organisation’s activities.
