DIMAPUR — Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) held a jersey-launching programme for its team for the forthcoming 24th NSF Martyrs' Memorial Trophy at the KVYO conference hall in Ziekezou on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, Mhasimhalie M Yhome, president of the Kohima District Football Association, emphasised the critical role of discipline and lauded the players for their dedication to the sport, according to a press release.
He encouraged them to view this opportunity as a key first step in their journey to higher levels of play. He underscored that teamwork and moral support are essential to the team’s success and reminded the players to respect their jerseys, viewing them as symbols of hard work and commitment.
Yhome advised them to value the sacrifices made by their parents, as well as the support from the village and various stakeholders, recognising these as integral to their achievements. He further congratulated the players on their selection to represent the village at various competitive levels.
Medozhazo Rutsa, president of KVYO, stated in his address that the current team will represent the village in various competitions until 2026.
Rutsa encouraged the players to stay motivated, give their 100% in the game, and bring laurels to the village. He also thanked the sports development committee for their commitment and dedication in nurturing the talents in preparation for the trophy and future tournaments.
The 24th NSF Martyrs' Memorial Trophy is slated to begin on September 14 at IG Stadium in Kohima, with the KVYO team set to play their first game on September 17 against Asufii Christian Institute.
