Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) while expressing their sincere appreciation to the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima for his concern shown to the victims by visiting the affected area twice, however, the organisation requested the DC to extend immediate help to the victims as they are in miserable condition without any Government assistance.
The KVYO also requested the 15 BRTF to take immediate necessary steps to check further escalation of the landslide lest it affect the town area in the future.
In a press release, KVYO president Medozhatuo Rutsa and general secretary Kezhalelie Keretsü, said KVYO visited the landslide affected area and interacted with the victims to express their solidarity and concern and also to extend assistance available to them.
KVYO informed that the landslide that occurred at Peraciezie, near 15 BRTF camp Kohima, due to incessant rain has carried away a portion of the road leading to Gashie/Dzüzie, Kohima High school extension. It also informed that the communication for those people in the area with Kohima town has been completely cut off.
The landslide has carried away a Church and school and several houses rendering many people homeless and scores of people are facing untold hardship, added KVYO.
