KVK Phek organises Golden Jubilee Torch Prayan

DIMAPUR — To commemorate the golden jubilee of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), KVK Chandel, Manipur, handed over the ceremonial torch to KVK Phek and accordingly, KVK Phek organised a KVK Golden Jubilee Torch Prayan on Wednesday at the training hall.

It is worth mentioning that the first KVK was established in 1974 in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu.

According to a press release, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, senior scientist and head of KVK Phek, highlighted the importance of KVKs and their commitment to advancing agriculture and allied activities while speaking on the occasion.

Dr. Nazrul Haque, principal scientist, explained the significance of the ceremonial torch journey, which symbolises the continuity of knowledge and commitment to the agricultural process. He encouraged the KVKs to continue working for the farming community.

Dr. KK Satapathy, former director, shared his insights on integrated farming systems, indigenous technical knowledge, and small farm tools and implements for reducing drudgery. Furthermore, he encouraged KVK personnel to contribute to the mission by transferring improved technologies and fostering skills and knowledge in the farming community for sustainability.

A total of 50 participants attended the programme.
