
Participants and organisers of the HRD programme for
strengthening climate-smart agriculture, held at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra,
Phek.
- DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural
Research (ICAR)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Phek (ICAR-NRC on Mithun,
Medziphema, Porba) under ICAR Agricultural Technology Application Research
Institute (ATARI) Zone VII, Umiam, organised a one-day HRD programme to
strengthen climate-smart agriculture in Phek district recently for officials
from the Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, ATMA, and Soil Conservation
departments.
- According to an update, the training programme began with a
welcome address by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, senior scientist and head of KVK
Phek, followed by lectures on agriculture and livestock.
- In the first technical session, Dr. Singh emphasised the
Mithun-based integrated farming systems, followed by detailed lectures by Dr.
Hannah K Asangla, Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Agronomy, on climate-resilient
agriculture; Manjunath KS, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS), Horticulture, on
sustainable organic farming practices; and Dr. Sharanappa CH, SMS, Plant
Protection, on the major pests of crops and their management.
- In the second technical session, Dr. Venkatesh, SMS,
Agriculture Engineering, focused on Agritech and Digital Solutions, and Dr.
Harini KR, SMS, Animal Science, provided an insight into organic livestock
farming.
- The programme concluded with an interaction session,
providing a platform for participants to address their problems in the
agriculture and livestock sectors and find solutions.
