KVK Peren conducts skilled training for rural youth

Resource persons and participants during the skilled training for rural youth on ‘Scientific poultry production and management’ at KVK Peren.

Dimapur, Feb. 2 (EMN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra KVK) Peren, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie, organised a five-day skilled training for rural youth on ‘Scientific poultry production and management’ from  Jan. 29 to Feb. 2.

The training comprised of 14 theory sessions and two practical sessions covering all the aspects of scientific poultry rearing and management, entrepreneurship development in poultry farming, housing and feeding management, care and management of brooder chicks, broiler, layers, health care and disease managements, poultry waste management and poultry-cum-fish integrated farming.

The intensive training was conducted by experts from KVK Peren and CVSc, CAU, Jalukie.  A practical visit to poultry unit at CVSc, CAU, was also arranged, an update from KVK Peren stated.

Dr.  L Babita Devi, CTO (Animal Science) and course coordinator, who chaired the inaugural programme, also delivered the keynote address, while Dr. KL Meena, PS and head, KVK Peren, in her welcome address, encouraged the youths to take up poultry farming for income generation.

The programme was attended by 20 youths from seven villages of Peren district namely, New Jalukie, Jalukie Town, Old Tesen, Heningkunglwa, Mhainamtsi, New Peren and Nkwareu.

During valedictory session, feedback from farmers was taken. Certificates and poultry feeder and waterer along with veterinary medicines like mineral mixture and vitamin were also distributed to the participants, the update stated.
