KVK Peren conducts 7th scientific advisory committee meeting
DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren conducted its 7th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, CAU Jalukie, on Thursday, with EAC Peren, Pauding Disuang as the special guest.
The EAC, in his address, congratulated KVK Peren for its commendable and outstanding job in the district and for including the suggestions of the line departments, an update stated.
In her speech, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Science and AH, CAU, Jalukie, the guest of honour, stressed the importance of taking the identification of problems seriously, as the data generated from the study would be used for planning at the national level.
Dr. H Kalita, HORC, ICAR Nagaland Centre and chairperson of the programme, suggested enhancing the production and productivity of livestock as well as crops. He also suggested taking up medium-duration variety crops to enhance cropping variety and promote ‘jalkund’ technology for water conservation in hilly regions.
The annual progress report 2023 of KVK Peren was presented by Dr. KL Meena, principal scientist and head, KVK Peren, and the annual action plan 2024 was presented by Dr. L Babita Devi, CTO, Animal Science, KVK Peren.
The programme was attended by officials from Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, Fishery, ATMA, Sericulture, CVSc CAU, scientists from the ICAR Nagaland Centre, KVK Dimapur, CEOs of Peren, Tening and Jalukie FPOs, and progressive entrepreneurs from Jalukie and Nkwareu.
Dr. BP Singh, head of DTEC; Dr. AK Sinha, principal scientist, ATARI, Zone VII; Dr. M Islam, principal scientist and head KVK of ICAR Barapani; senior scientist and heads of KVK Kiphire and Longleng, also participated in virtual mode.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Z James Kikon, CTO, Soil Science, KVK Peren.
