KVK, NSRLM set up CHC in Ngoromi village

Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): A custom hiring centre (CHC) was inaugurated at Ngoromi village in Kiphire district on November 12 in the presence of officials from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and NSRLM and Ngoromi Village Council members.

An update informed that the CHC is a joint initiative of KVK Kiphire and NSRLM, Longmatra block.

Temjenna Jamir, SMS of KVK Kiphire, gave an introductory remark on the importance of CHC and the role it plays for farm mechanisation and how it empowers farmers to tide over the shortage of labour and improve efficiency of agricultural operations.

She stated that the CHC would empower community institutions for better rural finance, improve agriculture productivity and facilitate value chain development so that the produce could go to better markets and thereby double the farmers’ income.

Jamir also informed that the VLO, which would be the custodian of the unit, should submit all the details such as bank account along with the details of all the SHGs under the VLO for record.

She further stated that the progress of the CHC would be evaluated under the joint supervision of KVK and NSRLM on yearly basis.

Seroba Sangtam, HEA at district horticulture office, highlighted on the various schemes and projects the farmers could available in order to strengthen their farming system. He emphasised on per drop more crop PMKSY scheme, the various benefits and how they could avail it from the department.

Chairman of Ngoromi Village Council, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to Dr. N Khumdemo Ezung, senior scientist and head of KVK Kiphire, for taking the initiative based on the needs of the farmers and setting up the CHC.

Agriculture tools and machineries including power weeder, paddy thresher, paddy harvester, manual operated water pump, knapsack sprayer and fruit harvester were handed to the CHC, Ngoromi village.

Altogether, 54 farmers attended the launching programme, it stated.
