KVK Longleng conducts scientific advisory committee meeting
DIMAPUR — The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longleng, conducted its 11th scientific advisory committee meeting at the KVK training hall on Thursday, with Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj as the special guest.
The programme was conducted in hybrid mode in the presence of Dr. AK Singha, principal scientist, ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, Umiam; Dr. M Islam, principal scientist and nodal officer, KVK, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam, and Dr. H Kalita, HORC, ICAR Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, a DIPR report stated.
During the programme, the KVK progress report for the year 2023 was presented by Dr. Lily Ngullie, ACTO (Animal Science) and the action plan for the year 2024 was presented by Dr. Hari Charan Kalita, senior scientist-cum-head, KVK Longleng.
The meeting, attended by scientists and heads of departments of agri and allied departments, deliberated at length on issues faced by the farming community and action to be taken.
The special guest, in his address, challenged the scientists to find an alternative to jhum cultivation by cultivating high-value medicinal crops as the land is fertile and unpolluted.
He encouraged the allied department to work in convergence with KVK for better output from the farmers in the district and assured full cooperation from the administrative side in implementing any projects.
Earlier, Dr. Hari Charan Kalita welcomed the SAC members and the vote of thanks was delivered by Yuimi Raising, STO.
Altogether, 26 members attended the SAC meeting. The programme was chaired by Dr. Azeze Seyie, a scientist (horticulture).
