KVK Kohima organises training for farmers

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima, has organized a one day training for practicing farmers at Henbenji village on April 23 wherein a total of 31 farmers from Henbenji and New Terogvoyu villages have attended the training.
In the technical session, Agronomy Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Mrs. Imtisenla spoke on “Weed management in field crops” where she explained the cultural weed control, biological weed control and chemical method of weed control in field crops.
Horticulture Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Mrs. Khekali Sema, speaking on the topic “Package and practices of large cardamon” emphasized on the importance of its cultivation, types of propagation, nursery management, cultivation practices, harvesting and post harvest management in cardamon.Animal Science Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Dr. Temjenunugsang highlighted on “Poultry farming” where he stressed on the strains of poultry birds to be selected, housing, management, nutrition and healthcare measures in poultry.
In another programme supported by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kohima, and sponsored by Directorate of Maize Research, New Delhi, 12 farmers of Phenwenyu village under Tseminyu sub- division were trained on maize production technologies at Directorate of Maize Research, New Delhi, which was held from March 29 -31.
