Dimapur, Sep. 9 (EMN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima, conducted a two-day programme under tribal sub-plan (TSP) in Nerhe Pheza and New Tesophenyu villages on September 8 and 9.
An update from the institute informed that a total of 250 brown layer chicks (BV380) and feeds were distributed to the beneficiaries of Nerhe Pheza village on September 8. It added that Dr. Temjennungsang, ACTO (Animal Science), and Dr. Sesenlo Kath, technical officer (farm), briefed the farmers regarding the rearing and management of layer poultry.
On Thursday, seeds of Chinese cabbage, broccoli, cabbage and peas were distributed under TSP to the beneficiaries of New Tesophenyu village. It stated that resource persons namely Puchono Kweho, SMS (agronomy), and Eliseni Tsopoe, SMS (plant protection), spoke on package and practices on rabi crops and integrated pest and disease management in rabi crops respectively.
Simultaneously, a training programme was also organised on September 8 at L Khel in Kohima village under nutri-sensitive agricultural resources and innovations (Nari) where resource person Khekali Sema, ACTO (horticulture), highlighted on “Winter vegetable cultivation” and also conducted a demonstration on ginger candy preparation.
Altogether, 50 farmers benefited from the two-day programme.
