DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, organised a field day on the soybean variety Dsb-32 under the Cluster Frontline Demonstration (CFLD) on Oilseeds at a demonstration plot in Sunito village on October 7.

According to a press release, the event aimed to showcase the performance, agronomic management, pest and disease behaviour, and farmers’ adoption potential of Dsb-32 under local conditions.

More than 22 farmers from Sunito and Togukha villages, extension officers, subject matter specialists (SMS), and stakeholders participated in the event. The field was laid out in replicated demonstration plots featuring Dsb-32 and a local check (Aikhu), with clear tagging of key parameters.

Dr. Bendangla Imsong, SMS/CTO (Plant Breeding), KVK Dimapur, delivered a technical overview on the variety’s traits, recommended management practices such as spacing, seed rate, and weed control, and shared preliminary data from the demonstration.

Participants walked through the plots to observe plant growth, pod formation, pest incidence, and yield indicators. A panel discussion allowed farmers to raise questions about challenges in soybean cultivation and possible solutions.

Dr. Moanaro, technical officer (Entomology), spoke on integrated pest and disease management strategies and insect scouting thresholds. Farmers shared their experiences in soybean cultivation and expressed interest in adopting Dsb-32 for the coming seasons.

At the close of the event, ICAR–KVK Dimapur distributed watering cans and gardening tools. Altogether, 25 participants took part in the programme.
