KVK conducts training for farmers

Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mon (Aboi), conducted a week-long programme in different locations at Angphang, Sowa Changle, KVK premises in Aboi and farmers field in Aboi from November 19 to 24. KVK assistant chief technical officer (plant breeding), Dr. Manoj Singh Sachan, conducted skill training programmes on “seed production technology of major rabi crops” and “tuber seed production of potato.” He also conducted frontline demonstration programme on potato as well as farm trials on chickpea cultivation practices. During the course, double or sequential cropping system were also highlighted and encouraged to the farmers to grow winter crops such as pea, chick pea, potato, mustard, winter maize, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, chilli, beans, etc after harvesting of rice fallow to increase the productivity, profitability and cropping intensity per unit of area. Altogether, 74 practicing farmers and farm women have participated in the programme.
