INTENSIFYING its election campaign with only a few days left for the state to go for polls the Congress today took the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government to the cleaners on financial and development bankruptcy. Addressing public rallies at Longleng and Mokokchung Congress candidate K V Pusa accused the DAN government of corruption and emptying the states coffer by the people. Pusa referred to the non payment of salaries of Government teachers for the last couple of months, non-regularization of work-charged government employees despite assurances before the last state general elections, backdoor appointments, the resolution opposing granting 33% reservation to women in the state assembly as some instances where the government had failed the people. He termed Rios DAN as anti-women and anti-poor government.
On the other hand Pusa was quick in highlighting promises of the Congress such as 10 crore jobs for the educated unemployed youth in the country, empowerment of women, health care and education for all, bank account for all and a soft loan upto Rs. 1 lakh especially for women.
The Congress leader trained his guns on former Lok Sabha MP, C M Chang and Rajya Sabha MP Khekiho Zhimomi for siphoning public funds. He said RTI document revealed that from 2009-2013 the two MPs have grossly misused the funds leaving most of the districts untouched by the MPLADP. Pusa said the two MPs had withdrawan funds without implementing any projects. He questioned conscience of the people and whether they were still ready to vote for such people.
Addressing a huge rally at Mokokchung Pusa lauded the district as one not only home to pioneers of Christianity amongst Nagas but a powerhouse of minds who are constantly shaping the destiny of the Naga people. He said 2014 Parliamentary Election is a fight between secular and communal, divisive politics and inclusive politics, a fascist organization and purely democratic organization. His appeal here was to fight these elections to protect the larger interest of minorities in India.’Vote for Congress so as to defeat the Hindutva fanatics who have been subjucating Christians’ he said. He said RSS’s political wing is the BJP, and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP),is an outfit under RSS and responsible for carrying out a thousand of attrocities against Christians, terming them as a westeners! Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram(VKS) another outfit of RSS who are responsible for converting tribals and adivasis Chriatians into Hindu through coursion. This was the outfit from where Swami Aseemanand shot to fame he added.
He said people are convinced and know the fact that NPF-led DAN govt. had joined hands with BJP party who are all out attacking minorities and who will not stop.
Pusa assured electorates of the state to work for equal distributon of funds and inclusive development unlike the ruling DAN which has ruled the state for the last 11 years. He said the UPA was coming back to power and the voter should not be carried away by false propaganda unleashed by the BJP and the NPF.
Z. Lohe, former Assembly Speaker and former Advisor to Chief Minister Rio who accompained the congress candidate also spoke in the rallies.
