DIMAPUR — The Kuzha Tephe Public Organisation (KTPO) has vehemently opposed the proposed installation of a radar system by the Indian Air Force at Pfutsero, Phek district.
In a press release, the organisation viewed the proposed project as a grave assault on the ecological sanctity, local livelihoods, and constitutional safeguards enshrined for the Naga people.
“This ill-conceived project poses irreversible environmental devastation, threatening the pristine biodiversity of the highlands, disrupting fragile ecosystems, contaminating vital water sources, and endangering wildlife habitats that sustain the indigenous way of life,” it stated.
The KTPO also stated that local communities, deeply rooted in these lands for generations, have expressed alarm over the long-term ecological fallout, including deforestation, soil erosion, and atmospheric pollution from high-frequency emissions impacts “that will scar the territory for decades.”

It condemned the alleged opaque land transactions which facilitated the intrusion without the consent of the public.
The organisation demanded transparency regarding the process by which certain landowners had purportedly sold land to the Indian Air Force, allegedly flouting the inviolable protections under Article 371A of the Constitution of India.
“This sacred provision (Article 371A) mandates that no Naga land can be alienated without the explicit consent of the district council and the competent authority, safeguarding our ancestral domains from external overreach,” it asserted.
“Any circumvention of these land rights represents a direct infringement on the customary laws, Naga self determination and autonomy.”
The KTPO announced that, in resolute defence of the people’s rights, it would hold an urgent consultation and conduct a cross-examination with the involved landowners.
The organisation stated that it would scrutinise the legitimacy of the land sales, expose any procedural violations, and mobilise communities to reclaim what rightfully belonged to them.
It called upon all Nagas, civil society members, and right-thinking citizens to unite against the encroachment and uphold the spirit of Article 371A as a safeguard of their sovereignty.
The organisation further affirmed that it remained committed to non-violent resistance and constitutional advocacy, ensuring that Pfutsero would continue to stand as an example free from militaristic impositions.
