Dimapur, Dec. 18 (EMN): In an unprecedented landmark history, the community of Kutsapo village under Phek district finally realised their long awaited wish by bringing home the mortal remains of Sonetso Esan from Darjeeling after 48 years.
Late Sonetso, a Pre-University Arts student of St. Joseph College, Darjeeling, died in an unfortunate accident on October 18, 1969, while pursuing his studies and was buried at Bhanu Gram Protestant Cemetery in Darjeeling. Sonetso, the youngest son of Kuhuso Vadeo, was the first matriculate from Kutsapo who was also the first designated students’ union president.
The grave exhumation project of Sonetso for further preservation was carried out under the initiative of Kutsapo Students’ Union (KSU) led by its president Dr. Nutazo Lohe, an Assistant Professor of Phek Government College. While keeping the record of Sonotso’s achievements and contributions for being a visionary leader and a pioneer in the field of education, the grave exhumation project was carried out in line with the forthcoming KSU’s golden jubilee celebration cum 70th general session of Chakhesang Students’ Union scheduled in January 2018 in Kutsapo village.
With outmost tributes and homage paid by the community, Sonotso was finally put to rest in a grandeur manner in his native Kutsapo village on December 17 with all necessary post exhumation memorial rites.
