Secretary for Law & Justice, Government of India Kusumjit Sidhu was in Phek district Headquarter on January 10. She held a meeting with various public leaders, heads of offices, GBs and DBs in Phek.

The deputy commissioner of Phek, members of the Mothers’ Association of Phek Area, town council members, public leaders, officials of the judicial department and the people of Phek accorded her a warm welcomed during her visit.

In the meeting, the central official said to have a ‘connection’ with the people of Phek as she used to serve as the then SDO (Civil) and later, the deputy commissioner of Phek. She said that her visit was to ‘find out the happening in the state and the requirements of the people and what would be better for the people and what development must be done.’

Various groups from Phek district shared their grievances in regard to health community centers in Phek, shortage of teachers and power supply, shortage of staffs in various departments, improvement of road in the district, shortage of equipments and posting of specialist doctors to Phek’s civil hospital, district courts, GBs and DBs’ courts as well as the need for science and technology (engineering) colleges.

The public leaders also pointed out that a majority of people of Phek district were living under the poverty line ‘due to poor infrastructure’ which had left them behind the other districts.

The secretary for Law & Justice was accompanied by the additional secretary for Law and Justice, Government of Nagaland, Akhan Koza.
