The community ground at Kumlong ward, which is one of the most important community places in the colony, and which hasn’t seen any major developmental works during the past many years, is now getting a major facelift thanks to a benevolent benefactor in the person of Addl Development Commissioner Planning & Co-ordination, Temsuwati Longkumer. Some concerned citizens and leaders of the colony approached the ADC Planning & Co-ordination, Temsuwati Longkumer and apprised him of the urgent need to take some major developmental works at the community ground, since the ground serves as the only place for open public gathering.
In this regard, one of the leaders of the colony disclosed that the Addl Development Commissioner (P&C), expressed deep concern and wholeheartedly consented to contribute towards the development of the community ground.
True to his words, the Addl Development Commissioner gave some amount of money and now works are going on in full swing, said one of the colony leaders.
They are now constructing the retaining wall, which has been a long felt need of the community and also the drainage, which greatly affects the ground during the rainy season. Once it is completed, the community ground would have undergone major changes, which would serve the community in a better way.
The Kumlong community ground, which is located in the lower part of the colony, houses the Angangwadi community centre in one part of the ground. This ground also serves as a volleyball court where the annual BST Volleyball tournament is held every year in the month of December.
Besides, this community ground also serves as a place for holding meetings, hosting concerts and other social activities.
Meanwhile, citizens of the colony have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Addl Development Commissioner Planning & Coordination, Temsuwati Longkumer for his concern and love for the colony members and also for his generosity. Besides, the citizens of the colony have also expressed gratitude to the concerned colony leaders for their foresight and initiative towards the development of the Kumlong community.
