DIMAPUR — The Konyak Union (Myanmar) (KUM) has expressed dismay over recent actions taken by some NSCN (K) cadres in ‘Eastern Nagaland (Myanmar)’.
In a press release, the KUM cited an incident on October 31 in which some Yung Aung-led cadres, who came from Khammoi village, approached the village of Chen Loiye, asking for ‘inden-ration’ or independence ration and ‘touring ration’ or travel assistance from village to village.
However, the village leaders declined to provide support, explaining they were to follow the instructions of Eastern Naga Civil Society Organisations prohibiting aid to NSCN/GPRN-K, whether it be the Yung Aung group or the splinter Ang Mai group, until they unite as one government and end violence.
In response, the KUM alleged the NSCN/GPRN CHQ cadres proceeded to kidnap two Chen Loiye village leaders, detaining them, tied with rope, for eight hours and demanding from the villagers a ransom of INR 15,000 for their release.
The statement read that all such activities will bring more corruption within the group and lead to the formation of more division in the future.
