Kukis in Manipur organises rally in support of KNO & UPF

Imphal, August 9 (EMN): In support of the third round of tripartite talks involving militant groups under two conglomerates Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and the United People’s Front (UPF) in Manipur, centre and the state, a public support rally was held on Wednesday in Kangpokpi district headquarters, 45km north of here. The tripartite talk was scheduled in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The support rally was jointly organised by various Kuki civil society organisations spearheaded by Kuki Women Union (KWU) to exhibit their sincere endorsement and support towards the UPF and KNO who represented the 23 cognate tribes of the Kukis. Holding banner which read ‘We Support Indo-Kuki Political talks’, the rallyists including both men and women gathered at Brigadier Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi and marched towards Kangpokpi Bazar via National Highway (NH) after a brief deliberation.
President, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district Seikhomang Khongsai enthused the public to pray for the success of the third round of tripartite talks to discuss the long cherished demand of the Kukis. He said that the rally is also a message to the centre to acknowledge the aspiration of the Kuki people and expedite the process of the prestigious political talks so as to accomplish the long cherished demand and solved the vexed political issue of the Kukis.
