Kuki militants nabbed in Manipur

In the wee hours of Thursday, the troops of Red Shield Division apprehended two hard core insurgents of Kuki underground group and busted a weapon forging unit, in Manipur which was being actively utilised for extortion and other nefarious activities and a
cause of concern for prevailing peaceful environment in hill region,says PRO Defence Wing Imphal in a press release.“Based on specific intelligence regarding presence of hardcore underground group cadres in Kangpokpi, Mission Road of Senapati district on February 19, troops of Red Shield Division launched an operation in the early morning. Apart from bursting a weapon forging unit near Kangpokpi, two active cadres of Kuki group were also apprehended in a hot pursuit while the individuals tried to flee the location,” it said. The details of the apprehended cadres are Number 105 SS Corporal Selenmang Tuboi alias Cherry(27) son of Selam Tuboi residemt of Gopibung village of Senapati district and SS Private Samuel Haokip(25) son of Thangpao resident of Kangpokpi of Senapati district. The bursting of weapon making factory has led to recovery of fully and partially prepared weapons. The details of war like stores include one 9 mm Pistol, two 7.65 mm Pistol, eight arrested magazines, twelve arrested live rounds, one AK-47 drill cartridge, eight empty cases, ten recoil springs, twenty seven drill twist, six barrels, five weapon bodies, one AK-47 Butt, twenty seven Alphabets and punching tools, seven Hacksaw blade, five files, one drill machine, four magazine frames and one Vice (Furnace making machine),it added. The apprehended cadres along with recoveries were handed over to Lamphel Police Station.
