DIMAPUR — Tabitha Enabling Academy (TEA), Kohima, held its annual thanksgiving day on Thursday, with Kudecho Khamo, advisor for the Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes, as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Khamo stated that the academy for differently abled and special needs children holds personal significance for him, and he urged society not to look down upon the special needs children.

Adding that the benchmark of a progressive civilisation is not measured by the level of income or facilities enjoyed by them but by how people treat and support people with special needs, he said that everyone is created by God with a purpose and that with proper love and care, individuals with special needs can excel.

He expressed gratitude to administrators Vekütilu Ngone and Asanuo Thong for their efforts and sacrifices in managing the academy, which began with seven students and three staff members and has now grown to accommodate 35 students and employ 15 staff members.

He lauded the government of Nagaland, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, for paying attention to and supporting special needs children, as well as the director of Social Welfare, Tosheli Zhimomi, and the commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Diethono Nakhro.

It should be noted that the academy is an exclusive school that focuses on reciprocal learning, where both regular and special needs children can learn, live, love, and laugh together.
